Here are the steps to submit an online PAN card application.
In the case of a new applicant, select the correct application type - Form 49A - from the drop-down menu. Also, select the option - Individual - under the category section.
Fill in the required details in the form.
Pay the processing fees for the PAN card. You can pay online through a debit card/credit card or through a demand draft.
Applicants with India address need to pay ₹110, while those residing outside India need to pay ₹1020.
On successfully completion of the application, the applicant gets a slip. This slip contains a 15-digit acknowledgment number. You can use the number for tracking the PAN card status online.
Next, take a printout of the page and paste two recent passport-sized photos in the space provided. Also, put your signatures on the acknowledgment form.
Send the form, along with other documents like address proof, ID proof, proof of date of birth, and proof of payment, to the Income Tax Department office.
Make sure the post reaches the office within 15 days of submitting the form.
On successful verification, the department will post the PAN card on your postal address mentioned in the form.

Students also have the option to apply offline for the PAN card. Let us take a look at the steps.
Download a copy of Form 49A from the NSDL or UTIITSL
website or collect a copy from a TIN-Facilitation center.
Tick the correct option as per your age.
Fill in the form, put your signature on it and submit it at a TIN-Facilitation center along with a copy of self-attested documents mentioned in the form.
Also, pay the required fees at the center after which you will receive an acknowledgment copy.
On successful verification, the Income Tax Department will post the PAN card on the postal address mentioned in the form.
